13 Mar 2012, Posted by Play Golf Sarasota in News

Sarasota was recently named the best spring break destination for families in 2012 by Livability.

Livability collected data from various family spring break destinations and received input from the Society of American Travel Writers to narrow down this year’s list.   This data was used to find spring break destinations that offered families great restaurants, fun attractions, and access to various outdoor recreation.

Sarasota has a nationally recognized opera house, ballet company, symphony, theaters, museums and art galleries. Nature lovers have their pick of parks and preserves where alligators, foxes, tropical birds and other animals thrive. The more adventurous vacationers can rent kayaks, sailboats and jet skis. Sarasota Named Best Place to Retire

02 Mar 2012, Posted by Play Golf Sarasota in News

John Brady of TopRetirements.com published a list of best places to retire and put Sarasota on top of the list!  Brady discussed Sarasota’s cultural offerings, reasonable home pricing, the cost of living, and warm winters as his reasons for naming Sarasota the best place to retire.

Our top pick on Florida’s Gulf Coast has so many things going for it. The economics are very attractive: median home prices well below the national average, no income tax, low property taxes. Culturally it has unbelievable resources for a small city of this size, thanks to the largesse of the Ringling Brothers, who had their winter headquarters here. The downtown is exciting and so is the nearby St. Armond’s Circle shopping area across the causeway on the barrier island. Siesta Key and Longboat Key are nearby.

Sarasota is also the best place to play golf!

Sarasota boasts some of the area’s best public and semi-private courses that retirees can enjoy.  Private golf clubs in the Sarasota area provides golfers looking for the country club lifestyle a multitude of options.   Plus, this area has the best options for golf lessons, golf schools, and technology to improve your game.

Play Golf Sarasota’s golf concierge service can help you choose what Club to join or where to play your next round of golf.  Plus, we offer discounted golf rounds to some of the area’s best golf courses.

Confidence in putting

15 Feb 2012, Posted by Play Golf Sarasota in Game Improvement

As a golfer, you need to be super confident when it comes to putting. How will you overcome your nerves and avoid outside distractions when you most need to be on target?

I work with elite athletes and one thing I require is what I call a daily “check-in.”

Every elite athlete knows he/she must practice and practice for a long time, until technique is second nature. But have you tried checking in with yourself before you grab the clubs, before you start the day?

In learning to be present with yourself at the start of the day, you tune in to what you most need to pay attention to that day to increase your game, whether it is something distracting your focus or something with your body.
