The 2015 Plantation Community Foundation Celebrity Golf Classic, the area’s largest sports celebrity golf event,
will be held on February 11 and 12 at Plantation Golf & Country Club in Venice.
The event is open to all area golfers. There are no membership or ability requirements. Once again there will be an outstanding field of approximately 75 athletes and well-known celebrities. Among those planning to attend this year are Hall of Famers Jacques Lemaire, Sam Jones, Danny McManus, Pat Richter, Paul Krause, Don Sutherin and CathyRush. Some of the additional celebrities attending are, Rico Petrocelli, Sam McDowell, Jim Perry, Gary Peters, Phil Regan, Ken Hodge, Mike McCormick, Tony Oliva, Don Schwall, Bill Gullickson, Tom Hume, Tom Niedenfuer and General Lance Lord.
The “Classic” begins on Wednesday evening February 11 with the Cocktail Pairings Party where playing Sponsors and their guests will have the opportunity to meet and socialize with the celebrities. By lottery, a celebrity will be paired with each foursome. On Thursday morning, February 12, there will be the Otto Graham Memorial Putting Contest, followed by lunch and the “Classic” 18-hole scramble, using both of Plantation’s award winning courses. The Awards Banquet will be Thursday evening. Spouses and guests are invited to enjoy both the cocktail party and the awards banquet.
Playing sponsorships are available for a $350 donation per person payable to Plantation Community Foundation, 500 Rockley Boulevard, Venice, FL 34293. A playing sponsor may register individually, or may form his or her own group of up to four players. The Classic, in its twenty-second year, is the Foundation’s premier annual event. The net proceeds benefit many charities in the South Sarasota County area. Over $2.3 million has been awarded since the Foundation’s inception in 1988.
