On the final hole of the 1969 Ryder Cup, Jack Nicklaus stunned the golf world by conceding a two-foot putt to Tony Jacklin. That grand gesture of sportsmanship inspired The Concession Golf Club, a Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course designed in association with his long-time friend, Tony Jacklin. Set on a strikingly beautiful landscape, The Concession brings championship golf facilities to a select, private membership. The new 33,000-square-foot clubhouse was designed jointly by internationally known Hughes Design Associates and fashion icon Adrienne Vittadini and includes a golf shop offering top-of-the-line attire and clubs, a professionally-outfitted men’s locker room featuring leather furniture, a bar and flat-screen television, an elegant, private women’s locker room, and the finest in dining by ZAGAT-acclaimed Sean Murphy, proprietor of Anna Maria Island’s famed Beach Bistro. The Concession golf course covers 520 acres and offers unique challenges and panoramic vistas on each of its 18 holes. Meticulously maintained, it is one of only a few golf courses in the U.S. where the condition of all 18 greens is managed by computer monitoring and control systems beneath each green. The Concession also hosts The Jonathan Yarwood Golf Academy, a state-of-the-art teaching facility managed by one of Golf Digest’s Top 20 Teachers Under the Age of 40, and boasts one of the country’s largest private practice areas (23 acres).
