October 31, 2014: Bring your little ghosts and goblins for a Safe Treats Halloween in Siesta Key Village. Look for participating members displaying orange and black balloons and pumpkin flyers in their windows. Free. 3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.

October 31, 2014: It’s the Kids Halloween Costume Parade and Trick or Treat in downtown Venice in Centennial Park. Meet at the Gazebo at 4 p.m. Parade is 4:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. Fun for all! More info at: 941-484-6722.

October 31, 2014: It’s Fright Night on St Armand’s Circle for Halloween fun from 6 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. There will be haunted store fronts, frightening characters around every corner and statues dressed in the Halloween spirit. Kids can trick-or-treat around The Circle with numerous shops and restaurants contributing to the Halloween spirit with customized promotions.

October 31, 2014: It’s a Halloween Masquerade Affair for the Modern-Day Abolitionist: “Free The Children 2014” is a Charity Gala to Combat Human Trafficking and the Exploitation of Children. Taking place in the Van Wezel Grand Foyer, the evening’s events will include live entertainment by Kara Nally, dancing, waterfront dining by Mattison’s Catering at Van Wezel, an upscale silent auction and more. October 31, 2014: Experience a Victorian Themed Funeral with grieving widow and fellow mourners where you can also take part as a mourner. It takes place in Mary’s Chapel and there are two tours. The 7 p.m. tour is recommended for families. There’s also one at 9 p.m. $8 per member adult, $4 per member child, $15 non-member adult, $10 per non-member child. Reservations are required. October 31-November 2: Big Cat Habitat presents “Wild-O-Ween”
Big Cat Habitat, 7101 Palmer Blvd., Sarasota, FL, Noon-5 p.m.

This event is kid-friendly with food, games, prizes, and a pumpkin toss for the bears and big cats. Children 12 and under will be admitted free with a donation of nonperishable food items for All Faiths Food Bank. The fun includes visiting with the Habitat’s exotic and other animals, petting zoo, music, children’s costume contest, games, prizes, and photos with a white tiger. Attendees may bring small pumpkins to toss to the bears (they’ll eat them) and the big cats (they’ll play with them).
